The New Orleans Saints host the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Caesars Superdome for Week 2 of the 2025 NFL preseason on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 12 p.m. CT.

The Saints dropped to 0-1 in the preseason after falling 27-13 at the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and will look to rebound in their 2025 home preseason opener when they host the 0-1 Jacksonville Jaguars at the Caesars Superdome. The two clubs have met three times in the preseason, with the Saints holding a 2-1 lead. This will be the first time that the two teams have met in the preseason since a 23-21 Saints win at the Caesars Superdome on Aug. 23, 2021.

In the regular season, the Saints and Jaguars have met eight times, with New Orleans holding a 5-3 series lead. The last meeting between the two teams came in an Oct. 19, 2023 Thursday Night Football matchup that saw the Jaguars claim a 31-24 victory over the Saints.

New Orleans will hold three more training camp practices at UC-Irvine in Southern California before returning home on Friday to prepare for Sunday's contest. Following the matchup with the Jaguars, the Saints return to the Ochsner Sports Performance Center for their final phase of training camp, before closing out the 2025 preseason against the Denver Broncos at the Caesars Superdome on Aug. 23.

SAINTS vs. JAGUARS PRESEASON SERIES HISTORY

The Saints lead the preseason series with the Jaguars 2-1, having won the last two meetings in 2018 and 2021. The last time the two teams met in exhibition play was on Aug. 23, 2021, a Saints 23-21 win at the Caesars Superdome, a Monday Night Football contest televised on ESPN.

Jaguars 31, Saints 24: Oct. 19, 2023 @ Caesars Superdome - The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the New Orleans Saints 31-24 on Thursday night in the Caesars Superdome, ruining a strong second-half rally by the Saints. The loss, the second consecutive for the Saints, dropped them to 3-4. The Jaguars improved to 5-2. SAINTS vs. JAGUARS CONNECTIONS

New Orleans defensive end Chris Rumph II prepped at Bucholz (Gainesville, Fla.) HS and was a college teammate of Jacksonville wide receiver Eli Pancol at Duke and a teammate of Jaguars defensive tackle Austin Johnson and Saints guard/center Will Clapp with the Los Angeles Chargers from 2022–23, where they were tutored by Saints Defensive Coordinator Brandon Staley and Edges Coach Jay Rodgers.

Jacksonville Head Coach Liam Coen tutored Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks in 2018 and 2019, when he served as assistant wide receivers coach with the Los Angeles Rams.
Cooks and Jaguars tight end Johnny Mundt and quarterback John Wolford were Rams teammates.

Mundt, Saints center/guard Shane Lemieux and defensive back Ugo Amadi were college teammates at Oregon from 2015–16.

Lemieux and Johnson were New York Giants teammates from 2020–21.

Cooks and Jaguars guard Chuma Edoga were teammates with the Dallas Cowboys from 2023–24.

Saints Special Teams Coordinator Phil Galiano served on the same Rutgers coaching staff with Jaguars Defensive Coordinator Anthony Campanile from 2014–15.

Campanile tutored Saints cornerback Isaac Yiadom at Boston College from 2016–17, when he served as the Eagles' defensive backs coach.

Yiadom and Jaguars tight end Hunter Long were BC teammates in 2017.

Saints running back Cam Akers, a former Florida State standout, was tutored by Coen when he was Rams offensive coordinator in 2022 and played with Saints safety Terrell Burgess, defensive end Jonah Williams, Wolford, Mundt, Long, Jaguars guard Tremayne Anchrum Jr. and wide receiver Austin Trammell with Los Angeles.

Anchrum went to Saints training camp in 2024.

Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., a product of Walker HS, was a standout at LSU, leading the FBS with 17 touchdown grabs in 2023.

New Orleans quarterback Spencer Rattler threw passes to Jacksonville wide receiver Dorian Singer at Pinnacle (Phoenix, Az.) HS.

Jacksonville tackle Anton Harrison blocked for Rattler and played with Saints linebacker Danny Stutsman, who prepped at Foundation (Winter Garden, Fla.) Academy, and Jaguars defensive end Ethan Downs at Oklahoma.

Saints Assistant Special Teams Coach Kyle Wilber prepped at Apopka (Fla.) HS.

Saints Defensive Line Coach Bo Davis helped tutor the Jacksonville defensive line in 2016.

Saints Head Coach Kellen Moore and Run Game Coordinator T.J. Paganetti tutored Jaguars tackle Fred Johnson in Philadelphia, where he was a teammate of Saints tight end Jack Stoll.
New Orleans Offensive Coordinator Doug Nussmeier served as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks at Florida from 2015–17, tutoring Johnson with the Gators during that time.

Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee and Jaguars running back Travis Etienne, a former Jennings HS standout, and quarterback Trevor Lawrence were college teammates at Clemson in 2020.
Saints guard/tackle Landon Young played with Jacksonville center Luke Fortner and defensive end Josh Hines-Allen at Kentucky.

New Orleans safety Justin Reid, Jacksonville wide receiver Trenton Irwin and tackle Walker Little were college teammates at Stanford.

Jacksonville Vice President of Community Impact & Football Development Adriel Rocha is a Mississippi Gulf Coast native who graduated from Southern Mississippi in 2010 and worked in the Saints front office from 2012–16.

Saints defensive end Isaiah Foskey and Jaguars center Robert Hainsey were teammates at Notre Dame.

Saints defensive back Elliott Davison and Jaguars wide receiver Joshual Cephus were college teammates at UTSA.

New Orleans defensive end Fadil Diggs and Jacksonville running back LeQuint Allen were college teammates at Syracuse in 2024.

Jacksonville quarterback Nick Mullens played at Southern Mississippi from 2013–16.
