Halftime update: Minnesota Vikings 14, New Orleans Saints 12

Teddy Bridgewater starts at quarterback

Teddy Bridgewater started at quarterback for the New Orleans Saints in the preseason opener vs. the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, a game in which most of the regulars played at least one possession.

The Vikings lead 14-12 at halftime.

Franchise quarterback Drew Brees dressed but did not play, just like star defensive end Cameron Jordan.

The offensive starters Friday in addition to Bridgewater: Terron Armstead, Nick Easton, Erik McCoy, Larry Warford and Ryan Ramczyk on the offensive line.

Tight end Jared Cook, receivers Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr. and running backs Alvin Kamara and Zach Line. Bridgewater was 14 of 19 for 134 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown pass to reserve tight end Dan Arnold with 44 seconds left in the half. Kamara had four carries for 11 yards and caught two passes for 15 yards. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael called the plays Friday night.

Trey Hendrickson started in Jordan's place on the defensive line. The rest of the starters: Marcus Davenport, David Onyemata, Malcom Brown, linebackers

Demario Davis, Alex Anzalone, A.J. Klein, defensive backs Marshon Lattimore, Eli Apple, Vonn Bell and Marcus Williams. The defense forced one turnover, a fumble recovered by Vince Biegel.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins started for the Vikings and led them on a long scoring drive on their opening possession. Sean Mannion replaced him and connected with Olabisi Johnson on a 18-yard touchdown pass.

Wil Lutz made two field goals for the Saints, a 27-yarder and a 52-yarder.
