2017 New Orleans Saints Training Camp Countdown No. 14 - Listening to Darryl Tapp

Darryl Tapp is No. 14 on our countdown to 2017 New Orleans Saints Training Camp presented by Verizon.

Entering his 12th season in the NFL, New Orleans Saints defensive end Darryl Tapp has kept one thing consistent throughout his career, you can hear his intensity on the field. The loudest member at practice, the veteran knows how to keep others focused and fire them up.

Joining the Saints last season, his loudness was on display at training camp and on the field during the games. In fact, his intensity is appreciated so much that he was given the opportunity to lead the pregame chant versus the Detroit Lions.

Looking to be an integral part of the defensive line in 2017, Tapp knows what his defensive teammates have to do to improve.

"We know what we have in front of us. We have a bad taste in our mouth from last year and the previous year," Tapp said. "It's early, but it's a different vibe."

The former Virginia Tech standout enjoys playing the game. His energy and enthusiasm is a result of his love and dedication to football.

"The best way to get out there and work, is to enjoy what you're doing," Tapp said. "In order to be in this league for a long time, you have to come with (energy and enthusiasm) every day."

Saints star defensive end Cam Jordan spoke highly of Tapp this offseason:

"He's 12 years in and you would never know it. He's got the energy of a rookie. He's got the talents of a prime guy in their year seven," Jordan said. "I call him 'Da Real' because the man just gives out 'da real' info."

Look for a fast and aggressive defensive line throughout training camp led Tapp's passion for the game.
