Signed by the Saints, 5/15/23…Participated in team's 2023 rookie minicamp on a tryout basis…Played five seasons at Texas Tech (2018-22), where he played in 51 games over five seasons for the Red Raiders with 24 starts at cornerback, nickel cornerback and safety. Frye finished his college career with 101 tackles (76 solo), including four stops for loss, seven interception returns for 55 yards with one touchdown, 19 passes defensed and a forced fumble. Frye also excelled on special teams, blocking a field goal and returning 24 punts for 146 yards (6.1 avg.) with a long of 39 yards…As a super senior in 2022, Frye appeared in nine games with three starts after missing four games early in the year due to injury and recorded 14 tackles (13 solo), including one for loss and two passes defensed…In 2021, appeared in 10 games overall with five starts from his spot at corner, despite missing three games midway through Big 12 play due to injury. Still managed to record 20 tackles (12 solo), including 2.0 for a loss, to go along with a pass breakup and interception. Served as the Red Raiders' primary punt returner when healthy, returning 12 attempts for 74 yards (6.2 average)…In 2020, appeared in nine games overall, missing only the Nov. 7 contest at TCU. Made one start early in the season in the Big 12 opener versus Texas. Totaled 17 tackles on the year to go along with one pass breakup. Had a tackle in all but one game. Recorded 12 of his tackles on passing plays and had one other on special teams as part of punt coverage. Active on punt returns as well, averaging 4.9 yards over his nine returns…In 2019, moved from cornerback to safety as part of the new defensive scheme. Appeared and started in 11 of 12 games, missing only the Oklahoma State victory due to injury. Named to the team captains circle prior to the season in a vote by his teammates, one of only three sophomores on the captains circle. Finished with 29 tackles (24 solo) to go along with two pass breakups, a forced fumble and an interception. Recorded at least two tackles in eight of his 11 games on the season. Also in the punt returner rotation throughout the season, when he returned four punts on the year for 21 yards with his longest being 10 yards…In 2018, Frye was one of the top freshmen in the country, when he appeared in 12 games with four starts at quarterback and led the Red Raiders with 13 passes defensed and five interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown.
