<span>Marcus Scott from West Jefferson High School in Harvey, LA was selected as the NFL Coach of the Week for week three.

Coach Scott has been coaching for nine years, but this is his first year as head coach of the Buccaneers. On September 20 the West Jefferson Buccaneers rolled past the Cougars from Edna Karr 19-12, giving Coach Scott his first win as a head coach. West Jefferson was forced to cancel their first game of the year due to Hurricane Gustav and then had to play on the road against a very tough Mandeville team. The Skippers handed the Buccaneers their first loss of the season in a 14-13 defensive struggle. Coach Scott believes that character is the most important factor in developing his student athletes, as evidenced in the way his team handled the adversity of a hurricane and a close loss. The Bucs bounced back the following week to defeat Edna Karr on the road.

The New Orleans Saints and the National Football League would like to congratulate Coach Marcus Scott on his victory. The Saints and the NFL will donate $1,000.00 to the athletic department of West Jefferson High School on behalf of Coach Scott's football program.
