New Orleans kicks off the 2024 NFL season on Sept. 8, 2024 against the Carolina Panthers at Caesars Superdome

The New Orleans Saints announced their 2024 schedule presented by SeatGeek. Here is a closer look at the 2024 Saints opponents heading into the NFL season:

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 2024 REGULAR SEASON OPPONENTS AND DATES:

Week 1 & Week 12 Carolina Panthers (vs. Sept. 8, at Nov. 3): In 2023, New Orleans swept the season series for the first time since 2020…New Orleans defeated Carolina, 20-17 on Monday, Sept. 18, followed by a 28-6 victory over the Panthers on Dec. 10 at the Caesars Superdome…The Saints are an identical 15-14 all-time in the regular season in home and road contests against Carolina…This will be only the third time that the Saints and Panthers have opened the season…On Sept. 11, 2005, the Saints defeated the Panthers 23-20 at Bank of America Stadium in an emotional victory after Hurricane Katrina had devastated the Gulf Coast…On Sept. 12, 1999, the Saints defeated the Panthers 19-10 in the only opener between the clubs played in New Orleans…New Orleans has won its last five season openers…The contest will be the first time the Saints have opened against a division opponent since they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-23 in the 2020 season opener…Carolina's Dave Canales will be making his head coaching debut, marking the first time the Saints have played a team with its head coach making a Week One debut since they defeated the Detroit Lions and Jim Schwartz 45-27 in the 2009 season opener.

Week 2 at Dallas Cowboys (Sept. 15): The Saints will face the Cowboys for the 32nd time, with Dallas leading the series 18-13…New Orleans will be looking for its first win in Dallas since a 34-31 overtime victory at AT&T Stadium on Dec. 23, 2012…In the last meeting, Dallas defeated New Orleans 27-17 at the Caesars Superdome on Dec. 2 2021…Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen is a native of Hurst, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and excelled collegiately at Texas A&M.

Week 3 vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Sept. 22): Philadelphia owns an 18-13 regular season advantage, with the Saints winning three of four postseason contests…In the last meeting between the clubs, a 20-10 Saints win at Lincoln Financial Field on Jan. 1, 2023, defensive end Cameron Jordan had three sacks to become the franchise's all-time quarterback takedown leader.

Week 4 & Week 10 Atlanta Falcons (at Sept. 29, vs. Nov. 10): In 2023, the bitter rivals split the season series, with each club capturing its home matchup…New Orleans holds a 55-54 regular-season advantage in the all-time series and has won 25 of 36 meetings since 2006…The Saints have played the Falcons 109 times in the regular season, more than any other opponent…The Saints are 28-26 all-time against the Falcons in home games, including a 48-17 2023 season finale victory at the Caesars Superdome…New Orleans is 27-28 in contests played in Atlanta, including a 24-15 loss on Nov. 26, 2023 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium… Allen's late father, Grady, played for the Falcons from 1968-1972 and Dennis Allen served on Atlanta's coaching staff from 2002-05 before coming to New Orleans in 2006 as an assistant.

Week 5 at Kansas City Chiefs (at Oct. 7): Kansas City owns a 7-5 advantage over New Orleans, with this being only the second time the clubs have played in prime time…New Orleans made the franchise's primetime debut on "Monday Night Football" in a 20-17 loss at Tulane Stadium on Sept. 25, 1972…The last time New Orleans faced the defending Super Bowl champions, it defeated the Los Angeles Rams 27-20 on Nov. 20, 2022 at the Caesars Superdome…In the last meeting between the Saints and Chiefs, Kansas City defeated New Orleans 32-29 on Dec. 20, 2020 in New Orleans…Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu played for Kansas City from 2019-21, a period when he was a two-time Associated Press All-Pro and linebacker Willie Gay (2020-23) and defensive tackle Khalen Saunders (2019-22) started their NFL careers with the Chiefs.

Week 6 & Week 18 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. Oct. 13, at Jan 4/5): New Orleans holds a 40-24 regular season edge in the all-time series against the Buccaneers, the club's best winning percentage (.625) versus an NFL opponent that it has played at least nine times…New Orleans is 21-14 all-time at home against Tampa Bay and 19-10 in contests played at Tampa…In 2023, the clubs split the season series, with each capturing its road matchups…New Orleans defeated Tampa Bay 23-13 on Dec. 31, 2023 at Raymond James Stadium…Both teams finished with a 9-8 record, with Tampa Bay capturing the NFC South on a tiebreaker.

Week 7 vs. Denver Broncos (Oct. 17): The Saints will host the Broncos on prime time as part of Amazon Prime Video's Thursday night package…The Broncos lead the all-time series 9-3, with the Saints having won the last matchup between the teams in Denver 31-3 on Nov. 29, 2020…New Orleans has a 1-4 record at home against the Broncos and will look to get its first victory in the Caesars Superdome against Denver since a 42-0 shutout on Nov. 20, 1988…Allen served as defensive coordinator of the Broncos in 2011, when Denver captured the AFC West…Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton served as head coach of the Saints from 2006-21, leading the Black and Gold to a Super Bowl XLIV championship campaign in 2009.

Week 8 at Los Angeles Chargers (Oct. 27): The Chargers own a 7-6 advantage, with the Saints winning the last four meetings dating to Oct. 26, 2008, the longest current winning streak against an opponent…New Orleans has a 3-4 road record against the Chargers, with this being the first regular season meeting between the clubs at SoFi Stadium.

Week 11 vs. Cleveland Browns (Nov. 17): Cleveland will be New Orleans' AFC North opponent, marking the 20th time the Saints will play the Browns…The Browns lead the series 13-6, but the Saints have captured the last two matchups…New Orleans will be seeking to win three straight games against the Browns for the first time since a three-game stretch from Oct. 28, 1984 - Oct. 14, 1990…In the last matchup between the clubs, a 17-10 Saints win on Dec. 24, 2022 at Cleveland, the starting temperature of six degrees Fahrenheit was the coldest starting temperature for a contest that the club ever took the field for in franchise history.

Week 13 vs. Los Angeles Rams (Dec. 1): Old NFC West rivals from 1970-2001, the Rams lead the all-time regular season series 43-34, with the post season series split at 1-1…The Saints have a 18-20 record at home against the Rams and are 15-15 at the Caesars Superdome…In the last meeting, the Saints dropped a 30-22 decision to the Rams at SoFi Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023…In the last meeting at the Caesars Superdome, the Saints defeated the Rams, 27-20 on Nov. 20, 2022…Playing at the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 27, 2024 will be the first season the Saints play both teams in the Los Angeles market since the 1994 season, when the Saints swept the Rams and lost at the Raiders.

Week 14 at New York Giants (Dec. 8): The Giants lead the all-time series 17-15, but New Orleans took the last matchup, a 24-6 victory at Caesars Superdome on Dec. 17, 2023, with quarterback Derek Carr tossing three touchdown passes and the defense not allowing a touchdown for the second consecutive game.

Week 15 vs. Washington Commanders (Dec. 15): Washington owns a 17-11 edge in the series, but New Orleans has won the last three meetings…New Orleans has a 5-9 home record against the Commanders, 3-7 at the Caesars Superdome…In the last meeting between the clubs, a 33-22 Saints win at FedEx Field on Oct. 10, 2021, running back Alvin Kamara finished with 122 total yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, while linebacker Pete Werner had a career-high 13 tackles and cornerback Paulson Adebo recorded his first career interception.

Week 16 at Green Bay Packers (Dec. 23): As New Orleans closes out its 2024 scheduled three-game primetime slate, this will be the fifth time the teams have met on primetime, with each team having won two contests…It will also be the latest matchup in a season for the Saints to play at the Packers…Green Bay holds the series lead 17-11…Tight end Taysom Hill and running back Jamaal Williams, college teammates at BYU, both started their NFL careers with the Packers…Hill originally signed with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and then was awarded to New Orleans off of waivers at the conclusion of the preseason…Williams was a fourth round selection of the Packers in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons in Green Bay as a part of their tailback rotation, where he carried 500 times for 1,985 yards with 10 touchdowns.

Week 17 vs. Las Vegas Raiders (Dec. 29): The Saints have played the Raiders 15 times with the series tied 7-7-1…After starting 0-3-1 against the Raiders, New Orleans has had a 7-4 record since an Oct. 23, 1988, 20-6 victory at the Superdome…In the last matchup against Las Vegas on Oct. 30, 2022, the Saints pitched a 24-0 shutout against the Raiders in the Caesars Superdome…Carr was a second round draft pick of the Raiders in 2014 and played for them from 2014-22, where he played in and started 142 games and completed 3,201-of-4,958 passes for 35,222 yards (64.6 percent), with 217 touchdown passes and 99 interceptions. Carr holds Raiders franchise records in attempts, completions, passing yards, touchdown passes, multiple-touchdown contests (69), contests with a passer rating of at least 100.0 (47) and 300-yard passing performances (33) … Safety Johnathan Abram and tight end Foster Moreau are also former Raiders draft picks…Allen served as head coach of the Raiders from 2012-14.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 2024 PRESEASON OPPONENTS AND DATES:

Preseason Week 1 at Arizona Cardinals (Aug. 10): The Saints lead the all-time preseason series against the Cardinals, 5-1, having dropped their first exhibition to Arizona in a 20-15 loss on Aug. 17, 2018 in New Orleans…The Cardinals lead the regular season series 16-15… Tyrann Mathieu was originally a third-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2013 NFL Draft and spent his first five seasons in Arizona.

Preseason Week 2 at San Francisco 49ers (Aug. 18): The contest will be nationally televised on FOX. The Saints lead the preseason series between the former NFC West foes 2-1, with San Francisco leading the regular season series 49-27-2…The Saints have not played the 49ers in the preseason since a 24-3 Saints win on Aug. 12, 2011 in New Orleans…Saints Offensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak, in his first season in New Orleans, served as San Francisco's passing game specialist in 2023, a season when the 49ers advanced to the Super Bowl.

Preseason Week 3 vs. Tennessee Titans (Aug. 25): The Saints will close out the preseason at a newly transformed Caesars Superdome against the Titans prior to the roster reduction to 53 players, under the league's three preseason game, 17-regular season contest format. 2024 will be the seventh consecutive time (note, the 2020 preseason was cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic) that New Orleans will conclude its preseason at the Caesars Superdome. With 30 previous meetings, the Houston Oilers/Titans franchise is New Orleans' most common preseason opponent, with New Orleans in the lead at 15-14-1.

The Cardinals and Titans preseason contests will be broadcast regionally on the Gray Television network of stations on the Gulf Coast, available in the New Orleans area on FOX 8 WVUE, with dates and times to be announced soon. The Aug. 18 preseason game at San Francisco will be nationally broadcast on FOX (WVUE FOX 8 locally), with the time to be announced soon.
