New Orleans Saints players, Marines team up for bike giveaway

The event took place at the Saints training facility Monday afternoon

A number of New Orleans Saints players teamed up with local Marines to distribute 160 bikes to pre-selected families from the Greater New Orleans area Monday.

The bikes were purchased by the Saints and wide receiver Robert Meachem from Academy Sports & Outdoors and delivered to Airline Drive with the help of John Fayard Moving and Warehousing.

"This is a season of giving," Meachem said. "For me, I just want to make young kids smile and help Santa drop off a few early presents and help some parents in time of need. I want to give them something that I wanted as a child and now I have the opportunity to give it to them."

Once the families and children received their bikes, the event was open to the public and each family was allowed to choose two toys provided by the Marines.

New Orleans Saints Owner/Chairman of the Board Tom Benson and Owner/Vice Chairman of the Board Rita Benson LeBlanc were in attendance along with Meachem, fullback Jed Collins, punter Thomas Morstead, running backs Khiry Robinson and Travaris Cadet, defensive end Cameron Jordan, quarterback Ryan Griffin, wide recievers Lance Moore and Kenny Stills and linebackers Curtis Lofton and Kevin Reddick.

"if you're giving two presents or one, you're letting people know that they are deserving and make people's holidays brighter," LeBlanc said.
