The New Orleans Saints and the NFL will host a free football officiating academy on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Saints facility in Metairie.
The academy will run from 3:30 – 8 pm and is for individuals ages 17 to 30. The event is designed to educate future official candidates on the basic football rules and officiating philosophies. Instructors will be represented by NFL Officials, Scouts and Supervisors.
The session will include the following:
* Presentation – An Official's Road to the NFL
* Getting started and the officiating process (specifics)
* You Make The Call – Instant Replay video presentation
* On-field instruction and mechanics shadowing drills
* Dinner and light refreshments will be provided.
