Lerri Cockrell named Saints/Chevron Teacher of the Week during Lions game

Lerri Cockrell currently teaches at David Thibodaux STEM Academy

Chevron and the Saints will continue to show their commitment to the development and education of our children by recognizing Teacher of the Week Lerri Cockrell. Cockrell has been an educator for 28 years and is in her fifth year at David Thibodaux STEM Academy in her hometown of Lafayette. Cockrell currently teaches seventh and eighth-grade math.

She strives to empower her students to become problem-solvers, believing that anyone can be successful in math once you find the right connection and ties the curriculum to life's normal interactions. Cockrell was thrilled to have been chosen as the Chevron/Saints Teacher of the Week.

"It was a real honor to be recognized as the Chevron/Saints Teacher of the Week," Cockrell said. "This is a real "win" for my students, as they are the ones who inspire me to do what I do each day. I cannot wait to share this experience with them! This is also a tribute to my colleagues and teammates who support me at every step and who also pour into the lives of the children who walk through their classroom doors each day."

Cockrell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education with certifications in Special Education, Early Adolescent Math and as an Elementary Math Specialist.
