Notes and stats on the eight Saints wideouts

NewOrleansSaints.com will look at each position group on the Saints roster over the summer. So far we have looked at six groups: Tight Ends, Safeties, Quarterbacks, Defensive Linemen, Specialists, Cornerbacks.

* He made his NFL playing debut against Tampa Bay in the Superdome on Jan. 2 and led the team with seven receptions for 79 yards.
*He had the longest reception by a Saints receiver in the preseason last year with a 51-yard reception against the Patriots on Aug. 12.
*He played in 35 games with 18 starts for the University of Michigan. He caught 109 passes for 1,438 yards, with 16 TDs.
*He was the recipient of the Desmond Howard Award, given to the team's top receiver as a redshirt junior in 2007.

*Last season, he spent a month on the Saints practice squad and also was a member of the Bills and Texans practice rosters.
*He played in 34 games over three seasons for Auburn, catching 55 passes for 645 yards with a TD.

*He's only the sixth NFL player to reach 1,000 receiving yards in four of his first five seasons.

*His 107 receiving yards in the red zone last season ranked third in the league and his 13 red zone receptions tied for fifth.
*According to ProFootballFocus.com, he led the NFL in receiving yards in the slot position with 696 and third in receptions with 53.
*He came in at No. 53 on the NFL Network's "Top 100: Players of 2011" that was voted on by current NFL players.

*He has averaged an NFL-best 19.0 yards per reception over the last five seasons, and has 17 catches of more than 50 yards during his career.
*His career receiving average (18.6) is the highest in club record books and his receiving yardage total (3,558) is ranked seventh.
*He scored the first touchdown of the 2010 NFL regular season vs the Vikings in the Superdome on Sept. 9 with a 29-yard TD grab.
*He tied with Colston for team receiving lead with seven catches for 63 yards in Super Bowl XLIV.  
*He was on the receiving end of one of the most memorable plays in NCAA football history, when he hauled in a 75-yard TD pass as time expired to defeat Kentucky on Nov. 9 2002. The play was named the Play of the Year by the AP and won the "Best Play" award at the 2003 ESPYs.
*He was a member of LSU's national champion indoor track and field team in 2001.

*He is ranked third all-time on the club's list for yards per catch (16.3) and tied for tenth with Henderson in touchdown grabs (17).
*He started 15 of 37 games in his three-year career at the University of Tennessee and totaled 125 catches for 2,140 yards (17.1 avg.) with 17 touchdowns.
*He was just the sixth player in UT history to gain more than 2,000 receiving yards and left ranked fifth in TD catches.

He was originally a third-round draft choice of the Tennessee Titans in 2005 and also had stints with Cincinnati and Indianapolis before joining the Saints.  
*He was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Month in September 2010.
*In his first career game against Oakland on Oct. 30 2005, he had seven receptions for 83 yards and a TD.
*He closed his career at Indiana as the school's all-time receiving leader with 170 catches for 2,524 yards.
*He is a cousin of the late Reggie Roby who played a total of 16 years (1983-98) as a punter in the NFL.
