Chevron and the New Orleans Saints continued to show their commitment to education by recognizing Teachers of the Week Arlene Casimir-Siar and Mary Pendleton at the Saints' win over the Oakland Raiders on Aug. 16.

Casimir-Siar teaches all subject content to the first graders at KIPP Believe Primary in New Orleans. She seeks to develop a love for learning, solid, confident leadership and a spirit of self-reflectiveness in each of her students that they can carry with them well into their futures.

Casimir-Siar is passionate about making the world a better place through her students' optimism and encourages them to embody a true sense of their capabilities and those of others.

Pendleton teaches writing to 7th and 8th-grade students at John Dibert Community School. She shows them how to master the writing standards, while also developing their critical thinking and communication skills.

"I felt really honored. I'm very passionate about teaching and the racial disparities in the educational system," said Pendleton, who is in her third year in New Orleans for Teach for America. "It feels good to be recognized for working so hard to make a difference in the community."

Pendleton includes current events in her writing prompts and creates community service projects for her students, helping them to become a part of the change that helps make the City of New Orleans a positive place.
