Jabari Greer Organizing Track Meet for Youth & Adults

Event to take place Saturday in hometown of Jackson, Tenn.

NFL Super Bowl champion and Jackson, Tennessee native Jabari Greer will host a track meet in RUN Jackson, the city's biggest track meet for adults and youth, including special needs children. The meet is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Liberty Technology Magnet High School, 3470 Ridgecrest Road Ext. in Jackson.

RUN Jackson, which encourages participants to Reach Out, Unite and to Never Give Up, will consist of relays, and individual sprints events. Runners can be individually sponsored for laps for a small fee with proceeds benefiting a family friendly charity of their choice.

Admission costs $10, and children ages 5 and younger will be admitted free. Each ticket will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win two tickets to the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans 2010 pre-season game. Greer will also run against the qualifiers of the 100-yard dash and the 4 X 100-meter relay (must be in the top 5 to qualify), and special fees apply for these two events.

RUN Jackson, which will also include music, face painting and food, is presented by Coca-Cola and Greer's new nonprofit organization, The Greer Campaign. The campaign launched in June 2010 and is committed to assisting fathers and their families in building strong families through education, community involvement and use of network resources.

"RUN Jackson will be our first major event," Greer said. "We want to unite this city and surrounding areas through the means of friendly competition, presenting a united front against the attack on the American family. We also want to bring awareness of our new organization, The Greer Campaign, and its vision motto - UNITING FATHERS...UNITING FAMILIES."
