Winn-Dixie sends young fans to Saints games for free

Winn-Dixie to donate 300 Saints tickets to Boys & Girls Club

  • Winn-Dixie to donate nearly 300 New Orleans Saints game tickets to provide memorable experiences for at-risk children and teenagers.
  • Donated game day experiences are a part of SEG Sports, a long-term commitment to celebrate healthy lifestyles and athletes of all ages and abilities across the Southeast.

Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Winn-Dixie, plans to give young NFL fans and their families the opportunity to experience game day through SEG Sports and its partnership with the New Orleans Saints. The grocer is donating nearly 300 home game Saints tickets to organizations serving at-risk youth in the greater New Orleans community for free.

Winn-Dixie has been a proud member of the Louisiana community for 60 years and the Official Supermarket of the Saints for nearly 10 years. On Wednesday, September 21, the grocer will be donating Saints tickets to the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana. The local organization, originally founded in 1965, is built on the premise that every child deserves a great future and continues to deliver life-enriching programs that support academic success, healthy lifestyles and good citizenship.

Trey Edwards, Regional Vice-President for Winn-Dixie Louisiana said, "We are proud of our rich history in Louisiana and our passion for this region extends beyond the grocery business. We're excited to have the opportunity to give the future of this community the special experience of premier athletic events to help inspire active lifestyles."

Edwards will join New Orleans Saints Senior Vice-President of Sales, Mike Stanfield, and Senior Director of Community and Governmental Affairs, Stephen Pate, to present the game day tickets to representatives from the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana at a media event on Wednesday, September 21, at 5 p.m.

"We are pleased to be associated with the Boys & Girls Club and help provide memorable and meaningful positive experiences for the children that they serve," said Saints Senior Vice President of Sales Michael Stanfield. "We have enjoyed a tremendous partnership through the years with Winn-Dixie and each year they find meaningful ways to make positive impacts in the communities they serve.  We look forward to hosting the children at our home Saints games this year and we look forward to putting smiles on their faces."

The event will take place at the Saints Practice Facility, located at 5800 Airline Drive, and will conclude with a tour of the Practice Facility, immediately following the presentation.

Southeastern Grocers will continue to coach, fuel and inspire our youth through SEG Sports and partnerships with organizations such as the New Orleans Saints and other professional, semi-professional and college sports teams. The grocer plans to continue working with reputable organizations like the Boys & Girls Club to send young, aspiring athletes throughout the Southeast to upcoming games to cheer on their sports heroes from the stands.
