On October 1, 2009 New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September.

Brees led the Saints to a 3-0 record and threw for 1,276 yards and nine touchdowns in September.

The Saints went on to finish the season 13-3, winning Super Bowl XLIV.
