This Day in New Orleans Saints History - June 15

A look back at 50 seasons of Saints history

On June 15, 2015 former New Orleans Saints safety Steve Gleason was selected as the Pro Football Writers of America's George Halas Award winner.

The award is given to an NFL player, coach or staff member who overcomes adversity.

In 2011, Gleason was diagnosed with ALS.

His public battle with the disease serves as inspiration to many around the world.

Gleason played for the Saints from 2000-2007.

In 2006, Gleason blocked a punt by the Atlanta Falcons in the Saints first home game since Hurricane Katrina.
