On April 21, 2001 the New Orleans Saints drafted former running back Deuce McAllister 23rd overall in the first round of the draft.

McAllister went on to play for the Saints from 2001-2009.

The Saints signed McAllister to the roster for the Super Bowl so he could be a member of the team.

McAllister retired as the leading rusher in the history of the franchise, amassing 6,096 yards on 1,429 carries (4.3 avg.).

McAllister was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 2012, the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame in 2015 and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
