The New Orleans Saints, winners of Super Bowl XLIV, are one of just five professional sports teams to be nominated in the Professional Sports Team of the Year category for the 2010 Sports Business Awards presented by Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily.
Joining the Saints as finalists for the award are the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, MLB's Philadelphia Philles, MLS entry the Seattle Sounders and the NHL's Washington Capitals.
The Sports Business Awards recognize excellence and outstanding achievement in the business of sports for the period from January 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010. Professional sports teams in the major and minor leagues, in leagues whose central offices are located in North America were eligible.
Winners will be announced at an awards gala that will be held Thursday, May 20, at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.
