Saints agree to deal with CB Leigh Torrence

Veteran defender inks one-year deal

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Tuesday that the club has agreed to terms with cornerback Leigh Torrence on a one-year contract.

Torrence, a four-year veteran defensive back, first joined the Saints when he was claimed off waivers from the Washington Redskins in November of 2008, and has played in 12 of his 47 career games with New Orleans. The 5-11, 179-pound cornerback played in five games in 2009 and was inactive in five others, making four tackles with half a sack on defense and five other tackles on special teams before being placed on season-ending injured reserve with a shoulder injury in November. He has totaled 55 tackles in his career with 1½ sacks and 42 special teams stops, having also previously played with the Atlanta Falcons.
