Saying goodbye: Gayle Benson, Mickey Loomis, and Demario Davis share their sentiments

Davis 'It was the honor of a lifetime to represent this city and this community'

Statement from Demario Davis:

"It's hard to find the right words for what this city has meant to me. Eight years ago, I arrived in New Orleans with a dream and a deep belief that if I worked hard and trusted God's plan, everything would unfold the way it was meant to. What I didn't know then was just how deeply this organization and this community would shape me.

Over the years, we've grown together. We've faced adversity and celebrated incredible moments along the way. Through every season, my goal was simple: represent the city the right way, lead with integrity, and give everything I had every time I stepped on the field.

To my teammates: Thank you for the brotherhood and the standard we held each other to every single day.

To the coaches and staff: Thank you for believing in me and pushing me to become better than I ever thought possible.

To the fans: Thank you for embracing me from day one. Your loyalty, passion, and belief meant more to me than words can express.

Walking away from a place that feels like home is never easy. But after a lot of prayer, reflection, and conversations with my family, I believe this next step is where I'm being called.

It was the honor of a lifetime to represent this city and this community. You embraced my family as your own, and for that, we are forever grateful."

New Orleans Saints Owner Gayle Benson on Davis:

"When Demario Davis first joined the New Orleans Saints in 2018, not only did he help our defense reach new heights, but his dedication to greatness and leadership resulted in him being voted by teammates as a captain immediately, becoming a fabric of our organization.

His outstanding character and commitment in the community to several important causes made a significant impact in New Orleans, with him being named our team's Man of the Year three times in a six-season period and being selected as the 2021 Bart Starr Award winner.

Demario, his wife, Tamela, and their six children will always be a part of our Saints family and we wish Demario continued success in the next chapter of his playing career."

New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/ General Manager Mickey Loomis on Davis:

"On behalf of the New Orleans Saints, we are grateful for the contributions of Demario Davis to our football team. Demario gave everything from both a performance and leadership perspective to this team for the last eight years, and for that we are all extremely grateful.

This past season, Demario had a great impact on both the growth of our defense with the implementation of a new scheme and playing an important role in the development of many young players on a promising defense.

Although we are going in different directions at this time, Demario will always be looked at as one of the most impactful players to wear the Black and Gold.

We wish him and his family great success as he continues his career."
