The New Orleans Saints will host the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL Preseason at noon on Sunday, August 13 on FOX 8/Gray TV. The Saints lost the last regular-season meeting between these two teams by a margin of 29-32 in December of the 2020 NFL season at Caesars Superdome. The defending champion Chiefs will be starting their 2023 preseason in New Orleans, where new quarterback Derek Carr and company will be looking to spoil their fun early on. Carr has familiarity with the Chiefs since he spent the early stages of his career with the Raiders, who share a division with them. The Saints trail the Chiefs in the regular-season series 5-7.

History: New Orleans Saints vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Saints and Chiefs have had limited faceoffs between the franchises, with only 12 total regular season head-to-head matchups. The Black and Gold trail in the series 5-7 with their latest matchup being in 2020, a 29-32 defeat for New Orleans. The Chiefs finished the 2022 season on the highest note possible, winning the Super Bowl LVII over the Philadelphia Eagles. This will be the first time the Saints have opened the preseason at home since 2019.
