Saintsations Virtual Auditions FAQ - Text Page

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there an age limit?
The only age requirement is that candidates must be at least 18 years old by May 1st in order to be eligible. If you are selected as a finalist, you'll be asked to present a valid photo ID to confirm age before final auditions.

How do I register?
All candidates must register online by submitting an audition application. Registration will open on Monday, April 6th and close on Thursday, April 16th. Registered candidates will then receive an email on Friday, April 17th with detailed instructions on how to submit audition video, resume and headshot. All virtual auditions must be submitted by Friday, May 1st.

What is the time commitment involved?
The Saintsations practices at least twice a week, usually on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, for a minimum of 3 hours per practice. Practices are held at a Metairie area location. There are 10 home games (2 preseason and 8 regular season) that usually take place on Sundays, but some Monday or Thursday evening games may be required. Promotional appearances and other booking may occur though out the year.

Saintsations do not attend away games, but are expected to perform at all home games as well as any additional home pre-season or playoff games. Should the Saints play in the Super Bowl, the team may make the trip. All members of the Saintsations Team will need to have reliable transportation to all rehearsals and performances.

What do the judges look for at auditions?
The judges are looking for individuals who are outgoing, energetic and dynamic performers. They are also looking for those who have the dance skills necessary to catch on to routines quickly and perform with precision. Ideal candidates are team players. They are well spoken, professional and hard working.

We are committed to a diverse, inclusive team. We welcome all individuals, regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, disability, race, color, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity or any other basis prohibited by law, subject to legitimate casting objectives.

Is dance experience required?
You are not required to have any professional dance/cheer training or experience in order to audition; however those with dance training will likely have an advantage and be better prepared for the audition process. Dance ability, performance quality, and technique will be important factors determining who is selected for the team. Personality, poise, and public speaking skill will also be important factors determining who is selected for the team.

How are the Saintsations compensated?
Members are paid an hourly wage for any and all events in which they are representing the New Orleans Saints. This includes practices, games, appearances, dance clinics, photo shoots, etc.

Is there an audition fee?
There is no fee required to audition.

Does my headshot need to be professionally taken?
It is not necessary to have a professional photo taken. Headshots should simply be a clear photo that accurately represents you as you are today.

Are there any height or weight requirements?
No. All applicants must simply fulfill the minimum age requirement.

What can I do to prepare for auditions?
Beginning now, you should brush up on dance and technique skills. It is important that you are putting in the work necessary to look and perform your best. Follow the Saintsations on Instagram if you are not already. We are keeping our page updated with fun practice choreography, home workouts, and audition tips.

Are auditions open to the public?
No. Preliminary rounds will be virtual. Finalists selected will be evaluated in person at a later date before the new team is announced. Every segment of auditions is closed to outside guests.

Do I need to bring a prepared routine to auditions?
Since our auditions are virtual this year, all candidates must submit an audition video. Once registration closes, candidates will receive a choreography link. The choreography that we teach will be a short jazz combo combined with a short hip hop combo. Choreography performed by candidates in their audition videos will consist of our instructed choreography and a freestyle section allowing candidates to highlight personal strengths. Candidates can choreograph their personal section instead of freestyling if preferred. It is just suggested that any special tricks/styles that demonstrate the scope of candidate's abilities be featured here.
