Bobby Hebert Answers Fans Questions

The Cajun Cannon turned 50 on Thursday

Saints Hall of Fame quarterback Bobby Hebert turned 50 on Thursday. A number of Saints fans wished the "Cajun Cannon" happy birthday at Thursday's practice and throughout the day. To show his appreciation for the fans support, the former Saints signal caller answered five questions submitted by fans to the Saints official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/neworleanssaints).

Q: What was your favorite play to call at quarterback? ( From Shaun Darnell )

BH: "Whenever we got blitzed, to call a bump-and-run fade route. The advantage is in your favor on that. This goes back to my days at Northwestern when I was throwing to Mark Duper. I knew when they were going to blitz and bump and run him, there was no way they were going to stay with him. I always thought it was the closest play to being a guaranteed success. It was a play I always felt very confident in."

Q: If you could have one super human power, what would it be? ( From Duncan Trahan )

BH: "Probably to be able to make myself invisible anytime I wanted. I think that would be pretty cool."

Q: During your playing career, what was your favorite offseason activity besides spending time with family? ( From Susan Janel )

BH: "Scuba diving. Initially, how I got interested in it was the 'The Adventures of Jonny Quest' cartoons. Then, the James Bond movie 'Thunderball' that got me even more interested. I would go spear fishing in high school with friends who weren't divers. That was a non-competitive sport that I really enjoyed."

Q: If you can't pick the Saints, who do you think has the best chance to win the Super Bowl this year? ( From Jamie Ronquillo-Coyne )

BH: "If I can't pick the Saints, I think the Cowboys are the most talented. They might be the most under-achieving team I have seen. I thought last year they beat us on the line of scrimmage on offense and defense. I also like Rex Ryan and the Jets a lot. If it can't be the Saints, I would like to see the Jets as well. I like those fiery types of coaches."

Q: Besides the "Cajun Cannon," what is your favorite nickname for yourself? (From Todd Miller)

BH: "Probably 'Bobby J.' I know if somebody calls me 'Bobby J' they are from my hometown. I am a junior in my family. My son at LSU, T-Bob, is actually the third. When I was younger, my mom would yell 'Bobby!' and my dad and I would both look in her direction. So she decided to start calling me 'Bobby J'. It can stand for my middle initial Joseph or for being a junior. Growing up, some people actually thought that my real name was Bobby J Joseph Hebert. I remember playing the Washington Redskins at RFK Stadium.  I was walking out the tunnel and heard somebody yell 'Hey Bobby J!' so I knew it had to be someone I grew up with and sure enough it was an old classmate of mine who lived in DC named Cornell Martin."
