NFL CAREER – Signed by New Orleans prior to the 2017 season opener after competing for snapping duties with the Dallas Cowboys during the 2016 and 2017 preseasons, Zach Wood has handled all long snapping duties in 149 consecutive regular-season games and seven postseason contests, adding 12 career coverage tackles. Entering his tenth season with the Black and Gold, Wood is the second longest tenured Saint. His 149 appearances are tied for 15th all-time in Saints history with Dave Waymer and he is also tied for the sixth-longest tenured player among active NFL long snappers with their current club. A team captain each of the past three seasons, Wood's reliability and leadership have been central to the team's success in the kicking game over the last nine campaigns.

Voted by teammates as a team captain. 2022 – Handled long snapping duties in all 17 games and recorded a career-high four special teams tackles. 2021 – Snapped every punt and kick attempt in all 17 games. 2020 – Handled long snapping duties in all 16 regular season games and both playoff contests. 2019 – Handled long snapping duties for all 16 regular season games and NFC Wild Card Playoff vs. Minnesota, 1/5/20. Helped New Orleans to 144 kicking points (32 field goals, 48 PAT), tops in NFC and ranked second in NFL. 2018 – Handled long snapping duties for all 16 regular season games and both postseason contests as the Saints did not have a single punt or kick blocked. 2017 – After spending offseason and preseason with Dallas, was signed by New Orleans, Sept. 9, two days before season opener and handled long snapping duties for all 16 regular season games and both playoff contests. 2016 – Signed a contract with the Cowboys after participating in a tryout during their rookie minicamp and training camp.

COLLEGE – Started 33-of-43 games he played over four seasons at SMU, tallying 137 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles at defensive end and three blocked kicks on special teams…Played in ten games, starting nine and recorded 39 tackles with team-high 9.5 stops for loss, 3.5 sacks, two pass breakups and three blocked kicks as senior in 2015...Appeared in all 12 contests in 2014 and led the team with four sacks to go with 40 tackles (six for loss)…Played in and started all 12 games as a sophomore in 2013 and tied for fifth on the team with 49 tackles (25 solo) and six stops for loss, adding one sack, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and first career blocked kick…Appeared in nine games as redshirt freshman in 2012, making nine tackles and a half-sack...Began long snapping in college…Graduated with bachelor's degree in applied physiology and health management with a minor in sport management.
