Taking over kicking duties for the final six games of the 2025 season, Smyth drilled 12-of-16 field goal attempts, including four from 50 yards or longer. Also converted an onside kick to give the Saints offense one last chance in the fourth quarter…Made one-of-two FGs and all three PATs, at Tampa Bay, Dec. 7…Finished two-for-two on FG attempts (42, 47) and made both of his PAT attempts, vs. Carolina, Dec. 14. Drilled a 47-yard field goal to win the game, the first game-winning FG of his NFL career. Had one touchback on game's final kickoff…Tied a club record by making five field goals (35, 36, 39, 49, 50) on six attempts, made both of his PATs and had two touchbacks vs. N.Y. Jets, Dec. 21…Went two-of-three on field goals and drilled all four PATs, at Tennessee, Dec. 28. Set new career-long by making a 57-yarder in third quarter. Also made a 56-yard field goal earlier in game. The first kicker in Saints history with three field goals of 56 yards or more in a season. PERSONAL – Prior to signing with New Orleans, Smyth was selected by the National Football League to participate in its International Player Pathway (IPP) program based on his performance as a goalkeeper in Gaelic football…Smyth played Gaelic football since the age of four, which he describes as a mix between soccer and rugby…Made his senior debut in 2023 in Ireland's elite inter-county league, where he excelled at goalie because of his ability to kick the ball through the uprights on free kicks…Ulster-under 20 winner with Down GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) in 2021…Trained for seven months after hours of his full-time job as a teacher having never kicked an American football, including time training at IMG (Bradenton, Fla.) academy prior to the NFL scouting combine and participating in a pro day at the University of South Florida…Studied at Belfast University and is now completing his master's degree in physical education…Served as a school teacher, instructing Irish Language…Participated in the 2025 Saints Hall of Fame Golf Tournament at Chateau Country Club…Participated in the 2026 New Orleans Irish Channel Parade…Born in Newry, Ireland on June 26, 2001.
