On November 8, 1970 former New Orleans Saints kicker Tom Dempsey kicked a then NFL record 63-yard field goal.

With Dempsey's kick as time expired, the Saints defeated the Detroit Lions 19-17 at Tulane Stadium.

Dempsey played for the Saints from 1969-1970.
