Former Saint Steve Gleason and his wife Michel were featured on ABC's "Good Morning America" Wednesday morning in an interview with Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan. An extended version of the interview will air Friday on ABC's "Nightline'"

The Gleasons spoke about their relationship, Steve's battles with ALS and the upcoming release of the "Gleason" documentary.

"Gleason" was the hit documentary from the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. The film goes inside the life of Steve, who, at the age of 34, was diagnosed with ALS and given a life expectancy of two to five years.

Weeks later, Gleason found out his wife, Michel, was expecting their first child. A video journal that began as a gift for his unborn son expands to chronicle Steve's determination to get his relationships in order, build a foundation to provide other ALS patients with purpose, and adapt to his declining physical condition—utilizing medical technologies that offer the means to live as fully as possible.

The documentary opens in select theaters on Friday in New Orleans, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. Tickets are available here.

Take a look at the Gleason documentary premiere at Orpheum Theater in New Orleans and the red carpet arrivals on June 14, 2016.
