Game Notes: New Orleans Saints 17, Carolina Panthers 7 | 2025 NFL Week 10

Rookie Tyler Shough throws the second longest touchdown throw by a Saints rookie quarterback since Archie Manning

  • The New Orleans Saints picked up their second win of the season over the Carolina Panthers, defeating them 17-7. It improves New Orleans' overall record (regular + post season) to 33-29 against the Panthers and improves their divisional record to 1-1 on the season. It was the Saints' first road win of the season and the first for Head Coach Kellen Moore.
  • A Black and Gold victory over the Panthers gives the Saints a 16-15 edge in games played at Bank of America Stadium.
  • The Saints will return to action following a Week 11 bye on November 23, when they host the Atlanta Falcons at the Caesars Superdome with a 3:25 p.m. kickoff. The contest will be regionally televised on FOX (WVUE FOX 8 locally).
  • The New Orleans offense set season-highs in total net yards (388), net yards passing (266) and time of possession (33:21), while tying season-highs in third down conversions (eight) and fourth down conversions (two).
  • QB Tyler Shough went 19-of-27 for 282 yards with two touchdown passes and a 128.9 passer rating. His first touchdown pass was for 62 yards, which was the second longest touchdown throw by a Saints rookie quarterback since Archie Manning threw a 63-yarder to WR Danny Abramowicz on October 3, 1971 against the Houston Oilers.
  • The New Orleans offense set season-highs in total net yards (388), net yards passing (266) and time of possession (33:21), while tying season-highs in third down conversions (eight) and fourth down conversions (two).
  • With the Saints victory, Shough became the first Saints rookie to win a start since Dave Wilson, when the Saints won at the Los Angeles Rams on November 8, 1981. Overall, he became the fourth Saints rookie to win a start, joining Wilson, Larry Cipa (1974) and Archie Manning (1971). His 282 passing yards are the most by a Saints rookie in a game, which passed Wilson as well.
  • RB Alvin Kamara shined as he rushed for 83 yards and caught three passes for 32 yards for 115 total yards from scrimmage. He passed RB Ahman Green, Christian McCaffrey and Louisiana native WR Charlie Joiner for 68th place in all-time scrimmage yards. He also passed DeMarco Murray, George Rogers and Nick Chubb for 68th place in all-time rushing yards.
  • Kamara played in his 125th game to take sole possession of 29th on the club's all-time games played list, surpassing WR Devery Henderson and S Roman Harper.
  • TE Juwan Johnsonrecorded four receptions for a career-high 92 yards with a touchdown, including a career-long reception of 52 yards. His performance today put him over the 2,000 yard mark for his career, which makes him only the fourth Saints tight end with 2,000 yards receiving or more.
  • With Johnson's three grabs, it marks his third season of 40 or more catches, which is tied for the third-most by a Saints tight end with Jeremy Shockey (2008-10).
  • His touchdown grab in the fourth quarter put him at 21 career touchdown receptions, which moved him into a tie for third in Saints history with Hoby Brenner at the tight end position.
  • WR Chris Olave recorded five receptions for 104 yards, which led all receivers in both categories, and a touchdown catch for 62 yards. The 62 yard touchdown reception was the longest catch of his career.
  • Olave now has ten games of 100 or more receiving yards, which passed Wes Chandler and Donte' Stallworth out of eighth in club record books. He now moves into a tie for sixth with Abramowicz and Henderson.
  • With his five catches, he became the 15th Saint with 250 career receptions.
  • TE Taysom Hill played in his 111th career regular season game, and moved into a tie for 40th on the club's all-time games played list with OL Andrus Peat. Hill played a season-high 25 snaps on special teams and offense and rushed for 20 yards and attempted a pass.

  • The New Orleans defense set season-bests in points allowed (seven), fewest touchdowns allowed (one) fewest net yards allowed (175), fewest net yards passing allowed (122), first downs allowed (13) and passing first downs allowed (six), while tying the season-low for rushing yards allowed (73) and rushing first downs allowed (five).
  • Panthers RB Rico Dowdle entered Sunday's game averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He was bottled up against the Saints, gaining just 53 yards on 18 carries.
  • DE Cameron Jordan recorded a sack on Bryce Young, who was the 50th different quarterback he has sacked in his career. He also became the 20th player in NFL history with 125 career sacks, as part of a day where he had two solo stops.
  • Jordan also played in his 236th career regular season game and moved into a tie for seventh all-time among NFL defensive linemen in games played with Clyde Simmons and Ted Washington.
  • LB Demario Davis led the defensive effort with seven tackles (two solo), which put him over the 900-tackle mark for his career as a Saint.
  • He played in his 124th game to surpass RB Mark Ingram II on the club's games played list to take sole possession of 32nd, and he played in his 220th career game, surpassing Takeo Spikes for 12th all-time in NFL record books for games played by a linebacker.
  • DT Nathan Shepherd recorded his second sack of the season and the first blocked field goal of his career. He tallied two solo tackles as well on the day.
  • CB Alontae Taylor posted five tackles (four solo), his first interception of the season and one pass breakup.
  • LB Pete Werner tallied six tackles (three solo) a tackle for loss, and a fumble recovery when Panthers QB Bryce Young fumbled in the red zone.
  • This was the seventh fumble recovery this season by the New Orleans defense, which ranks second in the league only trailing Pittsburgh.
  • LS Zach Wood played in his 142nd game on Sunday, moving into a tie with G Joel Hilgenberg for 19th on the club's all-time games played list.
  • On coverage units, LBs Danny Stutsman and Isaiah Stalbird and DE Chris Rumph tied for the team lead with two tackles apiece.
  • In his first game of the season, WR Dante Pettis returned a kickoff 31 yards.
