Game Recap: New Orleans Saints 26, New York Giants 14 | 2025 NFL Week 5

Check out the game action photos from the New Orleans Saints game against the New York Giants for Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season on Oct. 5, 2025 at Caesars Superdome.

In a season lacking big plays, the New Orleans Saints delivered two huge ones — one on offense and one on defense — to beat the New York Giants 26-14 on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.

It was the first victory of Coach Kellen Moore's tenure and the first win for Spencer Rattler as the team's starting quarterback as the Saints improved to 1-4. The loss dropped the Giants to 1-4.

The offense got things going with an 87-yard touchdown pass from Rattler to receiver Rashid Shaheed in the second quarter. It was the longest play for both players in their careers and the longest Saints play from scrimmage since an 87-yard touchdown connection from Drew Brees to Brandin Cooks vs. Carolina on Oct. 16, 2016.

The defense got in the act on the first play of the fourth quarter as Bryan Bresee forced a fumble by Cam Skattebo that was returned by safety Jordan Howden 86 yards for a touchdown. It was the Giants' third lost fumble of the game. That play is tied for the fifth longest play in franchise history and is tied for the second-longest fumble return in team history (Tyrone Hughes in 1994). Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry added two interceptions as the Saints dominated the turnover battle. They were the first interceptions of McKinstry's career.

Rattler had his best game as a Saint, going 20 of 30 for 225 yards and the touchdown. Receiver Chris Olave had seven catches for 59 yards and running back Alvin Kamara added 27 yards rushing and 28 receiving. Running back Kendre Miller had another nice outing with 41 yards on 10 carries. Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau both saw their first action of 2025 with Hill completing a pass to Juwan Johnson.

Kicker Blake Grupe had four field goals and made a nice tackle on a kickoff return but missed two attempts.

The Saints lost safety Justin Reid to a concussion in the first quarter.

New Orleans will play host to the New England Patriots on Sunday, Oct. 12 as it looks to build its first winning streak of the season.
