Jordan Howden

NFL CAREER – After being selected with the 146th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Minnesota, Jordan Howden has provided the New Orleans defense with quality depth in the secondary and on special teams. In 2025, the 6-foot, 209-pound defender gave the Black and Gold defense quality reps at the safety position appearing in 16-of-17 games with two starts, finishing with 25 tackles (15 solo), one fumble recovery returned 86 yards for a touchdown and a career-high four coverage stops. In three seasons, he has played in 49 games with 13 starts and recorded 115 tackles (64 solo), one sack, two interceptions, seven pass breakups one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and seven special teams stops.  Heading into his fourth season, Howden is looking to transition from special teams stud to compete for snaps as a full-time safety.

Giants, Oct. 5. His fumble recovery returned for a touchdown is tied for the second-longest fumble return in franchise history with Tyrone Hughes (vs. San Francisco, 11/28/94)…Recorded a coverage tackle, at Chicago, Oct. 19…Tallied two stops, both of which were solo, vs. Tampa Bay, Oct. 26…Rotated in on defense and played on special teams, recording four tackles (one solo) with one stop for loss, at Miami, Nov. 30…Made first start of season at SS for Justin Reid (knee) and played on special teams, making season-high six tackles (five solo), at Tampa Bay, Dec. 7…Started for in place of injured Reid the second consecutive week, finishing with five tackles (three solo), vs. Carolina, Dec. 14…Rotated in on defense and special teams, recording one coverage stop, at Atlanta, 1/4/26.  2024 – Played in all 17 games with four starts, finishing with career-high 47 total tackles (26 solo), two pass breakups, three coverage stops and his first two career interceptions…Finished with three tackles, one pass breakup, and the first interception of his NFL career vs. Carolina, Sept. 8…Recorded one coverage tackle, the first of his career, at Kansas City, Oct. 7…Made first start of season at SS and played on special teams, recording a team-high ten tackles (three solo), tying a career-best, and recorded s coverage tackle vs. Tampa Bay, Oct. 13…Started at SS and played on special teams, finishing with team-high eight tackles (four solo) vs. Denver, Oct. 17…Made the tenth start of his career at SS and played on special teams, recording five tackles (four solo) at L.A. Finished with eight tackles (four solo) and a pass breakup…Vs. Detroit, Dec. 3, started at SS and also played on special teams, finishing game with four tackles (three solo)…Vs. Carolina, Dec. 10, started at SS and played on special teams, finishing with a season-high ten tackles (seven solo), a pass breakup, and recorded his first career sack and forced fumble…Vs. N.Y. Giants, Dec. 17, started at SS and played on special teams, recording four tackles (three solo)…At L.A. Rams, Dec. 21, started at SS and played on special teams, finishing with six tackles (two solo) and one pass breakup.

COLLEGE – Played collegiately as a Golden Gopher and started 49-of-58 games during career with 240 total tackles (168 solo), 5.5 stops for loss, 20 pass breakups, 20 passes defensed and four interceptions…Started all 13 games in 2022, recording 58 tackles (40 solo), 3.5 stops for loss, five pass breakups, seven passes defensed and two interceptions and earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors (media)…Started all 12 games in 2021 and recorded 43 tackles, 1.5 stops for loss and five pass breakups…In 2020, started all seven games during COVID-19 pandemic shortened season. Had 37 tackles and one pass breakup…In 2019, played in all 13 games with 12 starts and tallied 57 tackles, six pass breakups and an interception…In 2018, played in 13 games with five starts and recorded 45 tackles (28 solo), three pass breakups and one interception. 

PERSONAL – Attended Desert Pines (Las Vegas, Nev.) HS his senior year where he helped lead the Jaguars to a state championship, 10-2 overall record and a 5-0 mark in league play. Notched 45 tackles and three interceptions while earning All-Conference honors senior season. Also lettered in track where he excelled as a senior. Won the NIAA 3A State Championship in the long jump (21-05.00) and was on the relay teams that took first in the 4x100 (42.70) and 4x200 (1:28.87). Placed fourth in state meet in the 100 meters (11.21)…Played junior season at Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, Calif.) HS, where he had 29 tackles, three sacks and seven pass breakups…Father, Ramsese Howden, played cornerback at Grambling State…Cousin, Saladin Martin, played CB at San Diego State and with the New York Jets (1980) and San Francisco 49ers (1981)…In 2024 offseason, teamed up with Rebuilding Together New Orleans and helped to make home repairs for a local community member, including installing a remote controlled generator donated by DuroMax…For NFL's 2024 "My Cause My Cleats" promotion, supported Autism Speaks.
