Biography

Peter Giunta (pronounced GEN-ta) enters his 11th season as a Saints senior defensive assistant in 2026. He's a 47-year coaching veteran, including 35 years of experience in the NFL with three Super Bowl Championships.

Working with Cornerbacks Coach Grady Brown and a position group with both youth and veteran leadership, Giunta and the defensive staff helped Kool-Aid McKinstry to a breakout season in his second campaign. McKinstry tied for sixth in the league in pass breakups (16) and was one-of-five-players to record 15-plus pass breakups and three-plus interceptions this season. He earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors following his Week Five performance, when he recorded his first two career interceptions. Alontae Taylor's 83 tackles ranked seventh among cornerbacks, while his seven stops for loss were tied for third at the position in 2025. Quincy Riley was named to the CBS Sports and ESPN.com All-Rookie teams after playing in all 17 games (five starts) and totaling 34 tackles, ten pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble. Riley's ten pass breakups were tied for fourth in the NFL among rookies.
