NFL CAREER – Pettis was originally selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round (44th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Washington. He has played in 58 career games with 19 starts for the 49ers (2018-20), New York Giants (2020-21), Chicago Bears (2022) and Saints (2024), recording 83 receptions for 1,104 yards (13.3 avg.) with 13 touchdowns, carrying three times for 35 yards, completing two-of-two passes for 32 yards, returning 38 punts for 294 yards (7.7 avg.) and bringing back four kickoffs for 114 yards (28.5 avg.). COLLEGE: Pettis played in 53 games (36 starts) in four years at Washington and registered 163 receptions for 2,256 yards (15.7 avg.) and 24 touchdowns. On special teams, he had 90 punt returns for 1,274 yards (14.2 avg.) and nine touchdowns to set an NCAA record…In 2017, Pettis was a consensus first-team All-America selection and earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors at both wideout and return specialist, when he played in 13 games with 12 starts and tallied 63 receptions for 761 yards and seven touchdowns, while adding 21 punt returns for 428 yards (20.4 avg.) and four touchdowns. He tied the NCAA record with a punt return for a touchdown in three consecutive games…As a junior in 2016, played in 14 games (11 starts) and earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors. Recorded 53 receptions for 822 yards (15.5 avg.) and 15 TDs. Also notched 25 punt returns for 287 yards (11.5 avg.) and two TDs. His 15 TD receptions, ranked as the third-most in a single season in school history, seventh-most in a single season in Pac-12 history and seventh-most in the country in 2016…As a sophomore, named second-team All-America by The Sporting News as a punt returner and earned second-team All-Academic All-Pac-12 honors. PERSONAL: Prepped at JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) HS, where he earned first-team All-CIF Southern Section Pac-5 Division and first-team All-Trinity League as a wide receiver in 2013, when he registered 50 receptions for 889 yards and 11 touchdowns…Played basketball and also was a member of the track & field team, competing in the California state championships in both the 200 meters and the long jump…Pettis has many interests off the field, including playing the guitar and ukulele, literature and photography…If he was not playing football, Pettis says that he would be taking wildlife photos for a publication such as National Geographic Magazine…Participated in NFL's "My Cause, My Cleats" initiative, wearing custom-designed cleats in an effort to raise awareness for DrawBridge in 2018, which provides free art programs for homeless and underserved children in the Bay area…Participated in Saints Hall of Fame Golf Tournament…Father, Gary played 11 seasons in Major League Baseball for the California Angels, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers, and San Diego Padres, winning five Gold Gloves.
