Biography

NFL CAREER – After battling an ankle injury suffered in the middle of the season, Jordan still managed to start all 17 games, registering 43 tackles (20 solo), two sacks, three tackles for loss, three passes defensed and a fumble recovery. In his 13-year career, Jordan has been selected to eight Pro Bowls, the most for a defensive player in club history and second overall. His six consecutive selections (2017-2022) trail only QB Drew Brees (seven from 2008-2014) and T William Roaf (seven from 1994-2000) for first in team record books. He now has a franchise-record 117.5 career sacks. The nine-time defensive captain is the first defensive lineman in team record books and second Saint overall to record at least 7.5 sacks in nine different seasons (LB Rickey Jackson: 1983-97, 1989, 1991-93), the only to do so in 11 straight campaigns and just the fourth player in franchise history to record at least six seasons with double-digit sack totals (12.5-2013, 10.0-2015, 13.0-2017, 12.0-2018, 15.5-2019, 12.5-2021), joining Jackson (six seasons) and DE Wayne Martin and LB Pat Swilling (five seasons). Jordan has registered multiple sacks in a game (1.5 or more) 27 times in his career, with 14 of those coming against teams from the NFC South (seven vs. Atlanta; five vs. Tampa Bay; two vs. Carolina). Jordan is one of only three defensive linemen to register at least 60 passes defensed since coming into the league after being drafted in the first round in 2011. An explosive and physical defensive end, the former University of California standout possesses the combination of size, speed and strength to play end in either a 3-4 or 4-3. Jordan has appeared in 209 games with 208 starts, posting career totals of 776 stops (479 solo), 117.5 quarterback takedowns, two interceptions, 63 passes defensed, 15 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries and one blocked kick. Jordan's 209 regular season games played is tied for 33rd all-time among NFL defensive linemen. Jordan is also the second Saint to ever appear in at least 200 games, trailing only QB Drew Brees (228). Jordan's also played in 11 career postseason games (10 starts), tallying 42 tackles (32 solo), 5.5 sacks and five passes defensed, the club's all-time leader in quarterback takedowns in the playoffs. Jordan is expected to continue to anchor the Saints defensive line in 2024.
