Shone Gipson, a 23-year National Football League veteran, enters his sixth season as the New Orleans Saints' head athletic trainer.
Prior to coming to New Orleans in 2020, Gipson spent the majority of his NFL athletic training career with the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns. He served as head athletic trainer of the Bills from 2015-17, after 12 seasons as an assistant athletic trainer. He then worked as an assistant athletic trainer with the Browns from 2018-19.
Gipson earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training from the University of Houston in 1999, where he served as a student trainer for the Cougars' athletic teams. Following graduation, he was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Stephen F. Austin from 1999-2001. During this time, he served as a summer training intern with the New York Giants in 2000 while earning a master of education in secondary education with an athletic training emphasis. He completed a season-long assistant athletic training internship with the Bills in 2002-03 before joining Texas A&M as an assistant athletic trainer for men's basketball and golf from 2003-04. Gipson then returned to Buffalo in 2004. His first NFL athletic training experience was an internship with the Washington Commanders in 1998.
