Paul Zimmer enters his 19th season with the New Orleans Saints and his fourth as an area scout. Zimmer is responsible for a region that includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana and Missouri.
Zimmer took over area scout duties full-time in 2021 after spending eight seasons as the club's college scouting coordinator, after originally adding road college scouting responsibilities in 2014. In that position, Zimmer was responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the club's college scouting department and its scouting staff, as well as processing and organizing information on draft-eligible players. In addition to these duties, he took over as the area scout for colleges in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri in 2017. From 2014-16, he served as the area scout for South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Iowa, and Nebraska.
The Sioux Falls, South Dakota native served as a video assistant from 2010-13, where his primary duties were filming all games and practices, organizing weekly game film from other teams and creating specialized cutups for the coaching staff. He first joined the club as a ticket and suite sales account executive in 2007.
Zimmer played rugby at Northwest Missouri State and graduated in 2007 with a marketing degree.
