Matt Phillips enters his ninth season with the Saints and third as an area scout.
In his current role, Phillips focuses on scouting the upper Midwest and Midlands regions of the country. As the club's combine scout from 2019 through the 2023 NFL Draft, Phillips worked for the Saints and the National Scouting Combine, where his reports on college prospects were shared with other teams that are members of the service. After arriving in New Orleans following graduation from college in 2017, Phillips served as a scouting assistant with the Saints for two seasons.
Phillips graduated from Ohio University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in sports management and a minor in business administration, where he served as a football recruiting assistant. His father, Ted, worked for the Chicago Bears for 40 years, including serving as chief executive officer and president from 1999-2023.
