Now in his 15th season with the New Orleans Saints, Justin Matthews enters his fifth year as a pro scout. Matthews moved into his current position in 2021 after serving three seasons as the club's pro scouting coordinator (2018-20) and his first three campaigns in football operations as a player personnel analyst (2015-17).
                   
                  
                    In his current position, he assists Vice President of Pro Personnel Michael Parenton in monitoring daily league transactions, overseeing free agency, evaluating pro players and the development of advance scouting reports. Matthews is responsible for prepping all special teams advances for upcoming opponents. He also has extensive experience in compiling projects regarding leaguewide statistical trends and has assisted SVP of Football Operations/Assistant General Manager Khai Harley with salary cap management and player and contract analysis in addition to his scouting roles.
                   
                  
                    Prior to joining the player personnel department in 2015, Matthews served as a video assistant for two years, initially starting with the club in their stadium operations department in 2010 as the Manager of Business Operations.
                   
                  
                    A native of Cherry Hill, N.J., Matthews is a graduate of Tulane University, where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance, and a master's of accountancy.
