With the loss, the New Orleans Saints fell to 0-2 at Gillette Stadium and remain winless in Foxborough since a 31-17 win on Dec. 3, 1995. The Saints take a 5-1 record into their bye week and will face the Buffalo Bills at home in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Oct. 27.
·        Quarterback Drew Brees completed 17 of 36 passes for 236 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
·        Brees' multiple-touchdown pass game was the 103rd of his career. Brees trails only Brett Favre (159), Peyton Manning (139), Marino (127) and Tom Brady (110).
·        Brees topped the 200-yard passing mark for the 37th straight game.
·        Brees' NFL-record streak of 57 consecutive games with at least 20 completions came to an end. Brees' NFL-record of 10 straight games with 25 or more completions also came to a close, tied with his previous league-leading mark.
·        Receiver Marques Colston had a third quarter 11-yard reception to advance the Saints to the New England 3-yard line, as he appeared in the 108th game of his NFL career, tying him for 32nd in club record books with running back Dalton Hilliard and kicker John Carney. Â
·        Receiver Nick Toon started for the third consecutive week and had a first quarter seven-yard reception.
·        Receiver Kenny Stills caught three passes for 64 yards including his first career touchdown grab on a 34-yard scoring reception.
·        Running back Darren Sproles got the start and carried five times for 15 yards and had a team-leading six receptions for 58 yards.
·        Running back Pierre Thomas led the Saints in rushing, carrying 11 times for 51 yards and adding a 29-yard gain on a reception. With 3,162 career rushing yards, Thomas moved into sixth place on the club's all-time rushing list past Ricky Williams.
·        Running back Travaris Cadet scored his first career NFL touchdown on a first quarter three-yard reception to give New Orleans a 7-3 lead.
·        Running back Khiry Robinson saw extensive action in the second half and carried seven times for 53 yards and had his first career touchdown on a third quarter 3-yard touchdown run to tie the score 17-17.
·        Fullback Jed Collins served as lead blocker for one of New Orleans' most efficient running performances of the season, as the team carried 26 times for 131 yards (5.0 avg.) and also had a three-yard reception in the third quarter for a third down conversion. He also had a one-yard run for a third down conversion in the fourth quarter
·        Saints tight end Benjamin Watson, a first-round draft pick of the Patriots, had a first quarter 25-yard reception to put the Saints in Patriots territory on a touchdown drive and in the third quarter had a 32-yard grab to put the Saints at the New England 12-yard line to set up a field goal. He finished with three receptions for 61 yards.
·        The New Orleans defense had a season-high five sacks.
·        Safety Malcolm Jenkins and linebacker Ramon Humber, who received his first start of the season, split a second quarter sack. Jenkins later had a key fourth quarter sack on a third down play to lead the team with 1.5 takedowns.
·        Linebacker Curtis Lofton led the team with 12 tackles (eight solo) and recorded his first sack of the season in the second quarter.
·        Defensive end Cameron Jordan had a third down sack inside the red zone on the first possession of the game to force a New England field goal. It was Jordan's team-leading fifth sack.
·        Defensive end Tom Johnson had a sack for an eight-yard loss in the second quarter to get the Saints defense off the field.
·        Cornerback Keenan Lewis recorded an interception in the fourth quarter, his second of the season.
