NFL CAREER – Lutz enters 2018 having previously kicked in 32 games, converting 59-of-70 field goal attempts (84.3 percent) and 96-of-100 PATS (96.0 percent). He has also recorded 107 touchbacks on 180 career kickoffs through the conclusion of the 2017 season. Entering the 2018 campaign, his 84.3 percent field goal percentage was best among kickers with at least 50 made field goals in team history.

His 31 field goals tied the team record shared by Morten Andersen (1985) and John Carney (2002). In making first four field goals of 2017, had a streak of 20 consecutive field goals until a miss vs. New England, Sept. 17, dating back to 2016 that was tied for the second most consecutive field goal attempts in team history…Made 4-of-4 field goal attempts at Minnesota, Sept. 11…Made 41-yard field goal, tied career-high with 7-of-7 PATs and had 6-of-9 kickoffs sail into the end zone for touchbacks vs. Detroit, Oct. 15…Made 2-of-2 on field goals at Green Bay, Oct. 22…Made 2-of-2 field goals, 2-of-2 PAT attempts, had 4-of-5 kickoffs sail into the end zone for touchbacks and on one that did not, tackled RB Tarik Cohen at the Bears 42-yard line vs. Chicago, Oct. 29…Made 2-of-2 field goal attempts, 5-of-6 PATs and had 8-of-9 kickoffs sail into the end zone, six for touchbacks at Buffalo, Nov. 12…Converted 4-of-4 field goal attempts, including the game-winning 28-yard kick in overtime, as part of a career-high 14 points after drilling both PATs and had all seven of his kickoffs sail into the end zone for touchbacks vs. Washington, Nov. 19…Went 2-of-2 on both field goals and PATs to reach 100 points on season, becoming the first Saint to accomplish feat in consecutive seasons since Garrett Hartley (including kickers and position players) from 2012-13 and pushed career field goal total to 52, tying Charlie Durkee (1967-68, 71-72) for fifth all-time at LAR, Nov. 26…Surpassed Durkee the next week with a 31-yard field goal vs. Carolina, Dec. 3…Converted 34-yard field goal attempt at Atlanta, Dec. 7…Converted 23-yard field goal attempt vs. NYJ, Dec. 17…Converted all 3 field goal attempts vs. Atlanta, Dec. 24…At Tampa Bay, Dec. 31, with a 48-yard kick, tied the club record for field goals with Andersen and Carney and finished season with 140 points, second-highest in club history…In NFC Wild Card Playoff vs. Carolina, 1/7/18, drilled a 57-yard field goal, tied for the third-longest kick in NFL postseason history and a Saints club postseason record…In NFC Divisional Playoff vs. Minnesota, drilled a 43-yard field goal with 25 seconds left to give New Orleans a 24-23 lead.   2016 – Signed by Saints at conclusion of preseason and proceeded to have the most field goals (28) and points (133) by a rookie kicker in club history, the point total was the second-highest in club history and smashed the club rookie record, last held by Tom Dempsey in 1969 (99)…Made 28-of-34 field goals (82.4 percent), including making his last 14 attempts and was 49 of 50 on PATs…In NFL debut at Oakland, Sept. 11, made 2-of-4 field goals and converted all four PATs, narrowly missing a 61-yard attempt as time expired in a 35-34 loss…Vs. Atlanta, Sept. 26, 57-yard field goal was tied for third-longest in club record books and the longest by a Saints rookie in franchise history. Also converted 3-of-3 PATs…At San Diego, Oct. 2, drilled all 5 PATs and had 4-of-6 kickoffs sail into the end zone for touchbacks...Vs. Carolina, Oct. 16, Drilled 2-of-3 field goals, including a 52-yard game winner with 11 seconds remaining, the first of his career, and all five PATs and had 5-of-8 kickoffs sail into the end zone for touchbacks. It was the longest game-winner by a Saint since Andersen’s 53-yard kick at Cleveland on Oct. 28, 1984 as time expired for a 16-14 win, as Lutz was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week…Vs. Seattle, Oct. 30, drilled all four FGAs and his only PAT for a career-high 13 points, drilled 3-of-7 kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks and made a special teams tackle as he was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks, joining Reggie Bush (2006) and  Thomas Morstead (2009) as only the third Saints rookie to earn the honor twice…Made all seven PATs, setting career-highs for both attempts and conversions vs. LAR, Nov. 27…Drilled both field goals and all six PATs at Arizona, Dec. 18…Made all three field goals, both PATs and drilled 4-of-6 kickoffs through end zone for touchbacks vs. Tampa Bay, Dec. 24.

 

COLLEGE – Played in 47 games (most in school history) for Georgia State, serving primarily as team’s placekicker, but added punting duties as senior…Program’s career leader in field goals (31), PATs (120) and points (213) and owns school’s top punting average (42.8 avg.)…Finished career 31-of-46 on field goals (67.4 percent), with eight of his misses coming from beyond 48 yards…23-of-27 (85.2 percent) from inside the 40-yard line…Second-team All-Sun Belt Conference at punter and was nominated for the Ray Guy Award (nation’s top punter) as senior in 2015…Finished seven-of-eight on field goals and converted all 35 PATs as junior in 2014…Added punting duties halfway through the season… Kicked game-winning 26-yard FG against Abilene Christian with :04 seconds left…8-of-12 on field goals as a sophomore in 2013. Converted school-record 53-yard FG at No. 1 Alabama…Was four-of-seven on field goals and 18-of-18 on PATs as true freshman…Graduated with a degree in criminal justice.

 

PERSONAL – Prepped at Northgate (Newnan, Ga.) HS, where he was a two-time All-County selection by the Newnan Times-Herald…5-of-8 on field goals as senior, helping the team to an 11-1 finish…Was also an All-County selection in soccer…Success on the field his first two seasons has been matched by his commitment to the New Orleans community through various charitable appearances…Participated in the club’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner charity event at the Dryades YMCA…Participated with teammates in the Saints/United Way Hometown Huddle Event at the Salvation Army of Greater New Orleans, showing children how to utilize fitness equipment that was installed…Visited patients at Ochsner Medical Center, as well as a annual Christmas visit organized by fellow specialist Thomas Morstead.
