Brian Young enters his second season as the New Orleans Saints' assistant defensive line coach and his 17th campaign as a valued member of the coaching staff. Young has worked with all of the club's front seven position groups after first breaking into the ranks as a coaching assistant in 2009 following the conclusion of a nine-year playing career along the defensive line in the National Football League.

In 2025, Young worked with Defensive Line Coach Bo Davis up front in the team's implementation to a 3-4 defense. Veteran linemen Nathan Shepherd (tied) and Jonah Williams had a career-high three sacks apiece, while Bryan Bresee finished with 2.5 takedowns and a forced fumble in 15 games. DT Davon Godchaux posted 45 tackles in the middle, as the Black and Gold improved from ranking 31st in opponent rushing yards per play in 2024 to sixth in 2025.

Young joined the Saints coaching staff following a nine-year NFL playing career, where he appeared in 124 games and had 22.5 sacks along with eight fumble recoveries for the St. Louis Rams (2000-03) and the Saints (2004-08). During his playing tenure with the Black and Gold, he served as a valuable member of the Saints interior line rotation, appearing in 64 games with 58 starts.

Young played at Texas-El Paso from 1996-99. He was the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 1999, when he had a career-high 121 tackles and eight sacks. The El Paso, Texas native graduated with a degree in criminal justice. In 2016, Young was inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame and the UTEP Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019.

Young and his wife Noelle, have three children Austin, Rio and Skye
