Expect an expanded role on offense Sunday, Dec. 17 for New Orleans Saints receiver Drew Brees, due to the absence of Ted Ginn Jr.  as the Saints take on the New York Jets at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Ginn (ribs) was limited in his practice participation last week after suffering his injury in the fourth quarter against Atlanta on Dec. 7. He was declared inactive Sunday morning.

Snead (six catches for 63 yards) has been relatively quiet this season. He missed the first three games due to suspension, sat out the fourth while recovering from a hamstring injury, then played a game before sitting out the next week due to the hamstring. Now fully recovered, he said last week that he anticipates more offensive snaps and, perhaps, more production. He was the Saints' second-leading returning receiver entering this season.

Also, rookie defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad is active for the first time since the Green Bay game Oct. 22. His active status coincides with Trey Hendrickson (ankle) being inactive. Hendrickson was injured against Atlanta. It's the third time Muhammad has been active this season.

Left guard Andrus Peat (groin) is active, after missing the Atlanta game. Peat was injured against Carolina and replaced in the starting lineup against Atlanta by Senio Kelemete, who left the Atlanta game with a concussion but returned to full practice this week. Peat might start after being limited in practice last week, or serve as a backup with Kelemete again starting.

The remaining inactives are: running back Jonathan Williams, linebacker A.J. Klein, linebacker Jonathan Freeny, center Cameron Tom, and receiver Austin Carr.
