Kellen Moore
Head Coach
The New Orleans Saints named Kellen Moore as the 19th head coach in franchise history on Feb. 11, 2025. Coming off a Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, Moore joined the Black and Gold after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2024 World Championship campaign.
Moore, a 14-year NFL veteran, played quarterback for six seasons (2012-17) and entered the coaching ranks in 2018, serving as an offensive coordinator for six campaigns (2019-24).
In his first season at the helm in New Orleans, Moore rallied the team from a 2-10 start to win four of the final five games. The Saints went 4-0 in the month of December, going undefeated in the month for the first time since 2011 and for only the third time in franchise history.
Moore put his imprint on the team in year one on offense, mixing a combination of rookie QB Tyler Shough, protected by a pair of promising young tackles in Kelvin Banks Jr. and Taliese Fuaga and WR Chris Olave and TE Juwan Johnson. A scheme was implemented behind Shough that accentuated his abilities and allowed the team to finish the season 5-4 with him as the starter. Shough completed 221-of-327 passes (67.6 pct.) for 2,384 yards with ten touchdowns and a 91.3 passer rating, while leading the team in rushing touchdowns to accentuate his athleticism and earn PFWA All-Rookie honors. By season’s end, the Saints had a pair of players with at least 850 receiving yards – Olave, who earned AP All-Pro honors as only the second Saints with 100 receptions, and Johnson - for the first time since the 2016 season.
Including Shough and Banks, whose 1,066 snaps on offense was a club-high to earn PFWA All-Rookie, Moore and his staff successfully integrated a total of five rookies into the starting lineup and important rotational roles. Two draft picks on defense, CB Quincy Riley and S Jonas Sanker, earned All-Rookie honors, while injecting youth into a promising group that finished the season ranked ninth in opponent net yards per game (299.8), fourth in pass defense (179.2 ypg.) and sixth in opponent rushing yards per play (3.97).
