With one out of five children in New Orleans not knowing when they will eat their next meal, Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. and the New Orleans Saints will launch the Winn-Dixie Hunger Relief program in all Winn-Dixie stores during the holiday season.  From Nov. 7 until Dec. 25, Winn-Dixie and the New Orleans Saints are asking customers to help make a difference by donating funds at the point of checkout and by purchasing specially-marked Winn-Dixie brand products, whose manufacturers have generously donated to this program.

Winn-Dixie will also announce a 40,000 pound food donation to Second Harvest of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana to kick-off the campaign.

In addition, at this Sunday's Saints vs. Falcons game, Winn-Dixie, Second Harvest and the Saints are asking fans to bring non-perishable food donations to drop in collection barrels or they can provide a monetary donation to one of the volunteers with can shakers, located at any of the following collection points: Gates: A, E, C, G and Champions Square.

Winn-Dixie's Hunger Relief campaign will run throughout the grocer's five-state operating area to benefit 16 Feeding America-affiliated food banks, including Second Harvest of Greater New Orleans & Acadiana.

Twitter users are encouraged to follow @WinnDixie and use the hash tag #Tweet2Eat to when they donate in stores or share the cause with their followers.
