Thomas Morstead's foundation, What You Give Will Grow, gives away sno-balls

Saints punter helps celebrate GiveNOLA Day with fans

Hundreds of New Orleans Saints fans gathered at Sal's Sno-Balls in Metairie on Tuesday, May 3 for a sno-ball giveaway provided by Saints punter Thomas Morstead's foundation, What You Give Will Grow.

The sno-ball giveaway was a part of GiveNOLA Day. Morstead's foundation put a spin on the idea of giving and gave back with a local New Orleans favorite. In addition to free sno-balls, fans were also given a 'GeauxGive Card' encouraging a chain reaction of kindness and passing on the good deed of giving. Fans were delighted that Morstead also signed autographs and posed for photos.

"It's the best way to say thank you," said Dennis Lomonaco, executive director of What You Give Will Grow. "It has been two years since we have started the foundation and it was kind of a way to give back on a day when so many people are focused on getting."

Any donation given to What You Give Will Grow on GiveNOLA Day entered the donor for a chance to win signed footballs and autographed Saints jerseys. Donations greater than $100 were placed in a drawing for tickets to a Saints game with sideline passes.

Morstead mentioned that he lives near the sno-ball stand and stops by with his family in the evenings.

"I can't believe so many people showed up," Morstead said. "The support has been fantastic. The Greater New Orleans Foundation's website crashed today and I'm assuming it's because so many people were trying to give, which is awesome, but we were able to come up with a secondary way for people to be able to give."
