The Saints are back in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this Sunday, and will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at noon. To assist fans in preparing for the second regular-season home game of 2014, SMG is pleased to provide the following information about Champions Square and the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Champions Square will open at 9am, along with club XLIV and the Opening Act. All gates at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome open at 10am, with the exception of Gate A Ground Level, which opens to Suite and ADA Patrons at 9am.
The entertainment this week at Champions Square is local band Phunky Monkeys. Food and beverage will be available throughout the Square, including several food trucks (Food Drunk, Rue Chow, The Holy Grill, Frencheese, Dixie Concessions, Rotolos Pizza, and Kona Ice Snow Balls).
"Opening Act at Champions Square" – an indoor, climate controlled sports bar adjacent to the Square – also opens at 9am. Opening Act has quickly become a favorite place to gather with friends before, during and after Saints games. There is no cover charge, there are food and beverage specials starting at kickoff and over 30 HDTVs inside. For fans who want to avoid the postgame traffic, Opening Act will also remain open an hour after the game.
Saints fans that do not have game tickets are always invited to come to Champions Square and enjoy the pregame festivities and then watch the game in Opening Act. Fans arriving for the pregame entertainment will be eligible to win a pair of tickets to the game, as the Saints have graciously provided two pairs of tickets that will be raffled from the main stage at Champions Square. Fans must register for the raffle in Opening Act prior to 10am.
The newly-renovated club XLIV is $10 (cash only) to enter, which includes one complimentary premium cocktail and entrance into the door prizes, which are an autographed football by Saints running back Pierre Thomas and two tickets to the SPCA Howling Success Gala on Nov. 15. The food in club XLIV is exclusive by Food Drunk, including the Saints King Cake Burger and the Chicken & Waffle Sandwich, among several other offerings. The Louisiana SPCA is the "Group of The Week" at club XLIV, and they will be handing out custom koozies.
SMG New Orleans reminds Saints fans that the security measures instituted by the NFL in 2013 remain in place, so fans should allow for extra time to enter the stadium. Security at all entrances for both the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and Champions Square will include metal-detecting wands, and the NFL's clear bag policy will be enforced. Bags are restricted to one clear vinyl/plastic bag (12" x 12" x 6") per person, and one small clutch purse (6.5" x 4.5" maximum size). The small clutch can be taken in with the larger clear plastic bag, or separately.
