New Orleans Saints Owner Tom Benson announced Saturday that the club's Super Bowl Ring Raffle has surpassed the $1,000,000 mark in funds raised to assist those directly impacted by this summer's oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Participation in the raffle has been worldwide as donations have poured in from around the globe, having been received from over 29 countries and all 50 states.
"Although we are proud of what we have accomplished so far, we have a unique opportunity to significantly surpass our original goals and we will continue our efforts to raise money to aid the Gulf Coast renewal effort," Benson said.
Benson first announced the raffle on June 10 and tickets have been, and will continue to be, available for $2 each. Details of the drawing will be announced next week. Tickets are available online at www.saintsgulfcoastrenewal.org.
In conjunction with the ring raffle, the National Football League has announced that all proceeds generated from their "Back to Football 2010 Kickoff Charity Auction" will be dedicated to the Saints Gulf Coast Renewal Fund.
