Saints Agree To Terms With CB/PR Marcus Sherels 

Sherels joins fellow former Vikings teammates Teddy Bridgewater, Zach Line, Nick Eason, and Latavius Murray.

The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent CB/PR Marcus Sherels. The announcement was made by Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis.

Sherels, 5-10, 175 was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings in 2010 out of the University of Minnesota and has spent his entire NFL career to date with the Vikings.

Over the course of his eight-year NFL career, Sherels has appeared in 120 regular season games with six starts, returning 231 punts for 2,447 yards (10.6 avg.) with five touchdowns. Sherels has the five longest punt returns for touchdowns in Vikings franchise history and is the club's leader in punt return average, punt return touchdowns, career punt returns of 50+ yards (eight) and career punt return yardage. He has also added 76 career tackles, one sack, one interception, 18 passes defensed, one forced fumble and 53 special teams stops.

In his final season in Minnesota in 2018, Sherels appeared in 12 games and returned 23 punts for 276 yards (12.0 avg.) with a 70-yard runback, adding a fumble recovery on defense and a special teams stop

Sherels, a native of Rochester, Minn., was a four-year letterman for the Gophers, working his way from walk-on to full-time starter at cornerback as a junior and senior, where he posted two interceptions each season.
