COLLEGE CAREER – The first player even selected by the Saints in the NFL Draft from Tarleton State, Johnson will attempt to secure a roster spot, transitioning to linebacker from his college position of defensive end and also seeking to contribute on special teams to take advantage of his combination of size and speed. Johnson finished his college career with 33 tackles for a loss and 15.5 sacks, including 17.5 stops for a loss and 10 takedowns as a senior, followed by an impressive performance in a college all-star game and his pro day.

2012 – Appeared in nine games at DE as a senior at Tarleton State and was tabbed the Lone Star Conference's Defensive Lineman of the Year and a first-team conference selection, while earning Division II second-team All-American honors, as he finished with 50 tackles (28 solo), 17.5 tackles for a loss of 65 yards, 10 sacks for a loss of 48 yards, one forced fumble, seven quarterback hurries and two passes defensed…Posted three tackles for a loss and three sacks against Abilene Christian…Recorded three stops for a loss and two takedowns against the University of Incarnate Word. 2011 – In his first season at Tarleton State, earned All-Lone Star Conference honorable mention honors, starting all 11 games at DE and recording 46 tackles (27 solo), 15.5 stops for a loss, 5.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one pass defense. 2009-2010 – Played two seasons at Kilgore Junior College before transfer.
