The 2016 draft yielded five players to the New Orleans Saints. Defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, the team's first-round pick, started all 16 games for the Saints in 2017 and had 26 tackles, two sacks, and one interception. Wide receiver Thomas impressed on the offensive end, leading the team in receptions with 104 catches for 1,245 yards and ranking seventh in the league in yards per game last season. Safety Vonn Bell established himself on defense and led the Saints in tackles with 83. Defensive tackle David Onyemata proved himself as a key member on defense in 2017 totaling 38 tackles and two sacks. Running back Daniel Lasco suffered a season-ending injury in November 2017 but looks forward to returning with the Saints in 2018.
