Saints QB Drew Brees, TE Jimmy Graham, LT Jermon Bushrod, G Jahri Evans and G Carl Nicks were named to the 2012 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced Tuesday night.
Brees has been selected to appear in his sixth Pro Bowl, his fifth as a Saint.
Evans has earned his third consecutive All-Star berth and Nicks returns to Hawaii after making his Pro Bowl debut last season
The Pro Bowl honor is a first for Bushrod and Graham.
The AFC and NFC All-Star squads are based on the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counts one-third toward determining the 43-man rosters that represent the American Football Conference and National Football Conference in the Pro Bowl.
The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. It was the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting
The 2012 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 29, 2012 and televised live on NBC at 7:00 pm (ET) from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. Fans may purchase tickets at NFL.com/probowl.
Graham released this statement on being named to the Pro Bowl:
"Being selected to represent the NFC team in the Pro Bowl is a tremendous honor. If you look around the NFC, you see a ton of amazing and talented players at tight end and to be thought of in that company by my peers, the head coaches and the fans who follow the NFL is something I take seriously. I think it goes without saying that there are many people to thank - starting with my position coach, Terry Malone, our offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael and Coach Payton. None of this would be possible without working with guys like Drew Brees, our running backs and receivers and the guys in the tight ends room. Jeremy Shockey and David Thomas have been great mentors to me, and I have learned a lot from each guy who has worked with me over the past two seasons. My focus right now isn't on going to Hawaii, it's on the Carolina Panthers and getting ready for the playoffs, but I think any guy who gets named to the Pro Bowl realizes that it's a heck of compliment and I am grateful and humbled by it."
