Adams arrived in New Orleans after spending eight seasons with the Carolina Panthers as an area scout. He joined the Panthers in 2001 after serving as one of only three scouts for the XFL in 2000. His football career began with an internship with the Cleveland Browns in 1982 while Adams was a student at Bowling Green University.

Adams became a full-time employee of the Browns in 1984 with a position in coaching administration. In 1989, he moved from coaching to scouting, and remained with Cleveland until the team’s move to Baltimore in 1995.
A native of Berea, Ohio, Adams graduated from Cleveland State University after transferring from Bowling Green. Adams and his wife, Lisa, have a daughter, Larissa, and a son, Nicholas.
